Welcome
Together with a select group of thought-leaders and innovators, you are invited by Department of Water and Sanitation to the first South African Water Unconference on the 1st of March, 2016. Representatives from government, industry, technology start-ups, civil society, academia, and the media will unpack the challenges faced by South Africans with regards to water and sanitation. We will collaboratively set an agenda to identify the main issues as well as suggest potential solutions to problems collaboratively set an agenda for action.
What are our goals?
- Develop a report to be distributed publicly which documents the ideas and discussions of the day
- Contribute towards a national water challenge which will encourage South Africans to present their ideas
- Raise awareness around the severity of the current drought and what steps can be taken to address it
- Share insights which will be used to develop innovative solutions at local hackathons that will take place across the country
- Identify a network of experts who are able to share their skills and expertise to tackle the issues identified
